Master of Arts in Islamic Studies with a Specialization in Contemporary Fiqh

This programme is designed to prepare graduates who are well-grounded in the various fields of Islamic Studies. Through this programme, students will become intellectually, morally, and technically capable of relating the Islamic legacy with all its texts, methodologies and principles to modern problems and solutions. Our scholars will be capable and willing to use these skills to advance development goals with forbearance, creativity, and civilized interaction. They will be highly adept at performing world class research in the field of Islamic Studies, and at initiating and sustaining global collaborations.

Admission Requirements:

Course Details:

  • Total of 36 credit hours, including 4 core courses (12 credit hours), 4 elective courses (12 credit hours)
  • A comprehensive exam
  • A dissertation (12 credit hours)

  • Contemporary Studies in Qura'n and Hadith
  • Atlas of Modern Islamic Thought
  • Human Rights and Women
  • Studies in Islamic Aqeeda

Elective Courses:

  • Texts in Fiqh and Jurisprudence
  • Civil and Penal Law
  • Islamic Financial Institutions
  • Modern Trends in Legal Thought
  • Juristic Biological Issues
  • Issues in Islamic Jurisprudence
